As part of a project to offer new ways of working to its customers, Bruntwood chose to implement Connect software by essensys to power two of its latest workspaces Neo and Platform. With an extensive portfolio of office and retail space across Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham, Bruntwood wanted to work with essensys to introduce a new wave of completely connected and community driven workspaces.

Neo – A New Way Of Working
The first of Bruntwood’s new workspaces began with Neo in Manchester city centre where the strategy for creating a community within the workspace was a significant priority. Some of the initiatives here included offering wellbeing sessions, yoga, outside space and introducing Fika, a Swedish concept centered around taking time out to enjoy coffee and cake, which takes place in the lounge. To coordinate this activity, Bruntwood brought in dedicated community managers who are responsible for creating and hosting a regular calendar of social, wellbeing and business events to bring the community together. Neo is centered around a floor of shared spaces that has been designed to encourage chance encounters between neighbours to spark conversations and new ideas as well as to provide workspace choice with a range of informal spaces.
Completely Connected Buildings
To supplement the community driven strategy, Bruntwood wanted to ensure that Neo was a completely connected building, not just for customers within their own offices, but for all customers across all spaces in the building. As well as more traditional full floor offices, Neo offers smaller serviced offices and coworking and hot desking in the lounge. It was important that each space at Neo, including the outdoor roof terrace, provides seamless connectivity so customers and visitors can work in whichever space suits them without worrying about their internet connection.
By enlisting essensys, Bruntwood was able to deliver enterprise-grade IT and telephony services to all customers and provide more power over and understanding of their IT thanprevious workspaces. Connect by essensys also allowed Bruntwood to tackle complicated and time-consuming day-to-day issues such as the manpower traditionally dedicated to managing customers’ IT. With a completely connected solution, Bruntwood was able to spend less time maintaining comms rooms and onboarding new customers and more time building the community at Neo and getting to know customers.
Connecting With Platform
Following the success of Connect at Neo with customers benefiting from the streamlined and powerful connected IT, Bruntwood has now rolled out Connect by essensys at another of its new wave of workspaces, Platform in Leeds.
Platform sits directly above Leeds mainline railway station and is arguably the best connected workspace in the city from a transport perspective. Bruntwood wanted to ensure it was also fully connected from an IT point of view. Platform also has a focus on community and shared spaces and caters for businesses of all sizes from national brands to single hot desks. It was important that customers and visitors could each access secure and reliable connectivity wherever they are in the building.
